Express vpn sells to Kape

Would you recommend continued use of Express VPN.
I’ve seen Torguad getting a lot of good reviews since it’s a top torrent site not yet owned by Kape. Is it actually a good replacement and is it great for torrents?

I suppose you could go back and see what people said when they bought PIA.

No, also their CIO is part of the Project Raven : https://www.cnet.com/tech/services-and-software/expressvpn-cio-among-three-facing-1-6-million-doj-fine-project-raven/

i’m going to protonvpn!

Still using PIA here.

You mean the company that just started to hand out data on their email side of business?..

was Torguard not on your list to get instead?

Oh really? I just signed up for 2 years of ProtonVPN like a month or two ago based on searching past Reddit recommendations.

Do you have more info on this?

Stop spreading bullshit. They handed IP address for a single person and that’s it. No other information or mail content was handed to authorities. And even that because they had to follow the law and track the IP after court order was given. Proton is not above the law and punishing them for it is dumb. So is spreading bullshit about the situation.

It’s still fine to use ProtonMail for privacy. And if you want anonymity on top of that, use it with a Tor.

well, this doesn’t affect the VPN service! although its a shame for a email service for so called NO IP LOGGING!
also a company has to abide rule of its own jurisdiction… Fortunately for me i’m not from switzerland! so…

Torguard

I’m sorry but I didnt consider that one, I used proton once! so I directly started using that!

Yep, that was my point. No problems

Interesting tho this is probably a very optimistic scenario with no other background traffic to disturb the analysis. Wrapped in a VPN, and you’ve got a slightly different story where the state-level attacker has got to correlate inbound and outbound traffic too.

Do you have more info on this?

Yes ofc

AND HAND DATA OUT WITHOUT A COURT ORDER IN HAND!

they also Edit their warrant canary which is a very bad sign ( because thats your reliance as customer to know if they have some law attention)

Don’t use proton vpn, it’s super expensive and there was this stuff where they gave out details of an activist from protonmail when they were asked by the Switzerland government.

It’s literally said that they always abides the law from the government. I either use air vpn, mullad, cryptostorm or PIA…

The email situation was legally compelled. Any email provider would have been forced to comply

Even their own warrant canary says “without court order”. Before they edited it

well, this doesn’t affect the VPN service!

it does to a degree they claimed protective things which were in the end a lie.

they claim protective things for the VPN too how long till this changes also as in they giving out data?

Sorry but a company which failed once on their promises isnt to be trusted anymore.

Interesting. Well, ProtonVPN is my introduction into VPN’s. I think it’s a risk with most any third party VPN isn’t it?

I am slowly learning more and more about security. I think OpenVPN allows you to host your own VPN, which would eliminate that worry if I understand correctly. Hoping I can get to a better understanding by the time my ProtonVPN subscription ends in two years.
