Get an app called Keep. It’s a notes and checklist app. It syncs with ur gmail and u always have a copy on ur emails. I know there is already another app similar to it on iPhones already, but this app is more user friendly and the sync with ur existing email and other devices is flawless. And it doesn’t use up ur iCloud space, it works with google drive. I’ve got notes on there from 8 years ago. This is a productivity app.
The next app I’d suggest is Splitwise. Helps u keep track of all expenses u share with friends. Who owes u money and who u owe money. When u go out with multiple groups it makes it easier for u to keep track of.
Depends on what you like to do. I love hiking and backpacking so all-trails is a great app and I don’t mind paying for it. Depends on where you live and what apps service your local area. I live in NJ and I have the NJ transit app to buy tickets when I’m using the train to head to the airport. Speedtest app to check connectivity and speeds. If you’re into things like whisky or beers then apps for those things are good. So just think about things you enjoy and see what app caters to that. I have apps for my automated stuff. Cameras, temp sensors, controllers etc.
I believe it’s also on Android but I have this app called PulsePoint that tracks local EMS calls, so if I ever hear a crap ton of sirens and wonder what’s up I can check the app and figure out where and what the situation is. It’s surprisingly helpful!
First of all welcome to the world of Apple. Im a huge fan and I’m glad you got your first chance to see how amazing it is. My number one recommendation is to download the TIPS app it will walk you through the different things you can do with your phone. Also go to the Books app and look up the user guide to your phone and also look up the IOS 17 user guide for your phone. Those three things will help you learn all you need to about your device. Lastly check on google for how to save battery on your phone. Small settings can save you tons of battery life and making those changes is really important. Also I’d go into settings and go down each section and explore all the options you have so you can customize your phone how you want to. If you have any questions on things let me know and I can help. YouTube is a huge resource for things to know as well. again welcome!!
Things is one of the most well designed third party apps I’ve ever used. Such a great UX.
If you like cooking, then I’d highly recommend Paprika. Amazing for pulling recipes from sites (even those behind a paywall) and I really like the grocery list feature too (lets you easily add ingredients from recipes to your list and organizes by grocery section)
Not really run into any apps that I would say universally add to the experience.
I think all the stock apps are fantastic, especially considering any viable alternatives require subscriptions and potentially sending data to a 3rd party.
I will say you might want to check out putting a dns filter profile on. AdGuard has an app I think but you can also have them generate a configuration profile with a dns filter you can install.
Djay app by Algoriddim. If you wanna pretend to djay on your couch with your phone this app is so good! Worth a checkout if you like music. My new favourite.
Windy app for weather. If you are outdoors much this app is amazing. Chock full of useful info for hiking, fishing, camping, sailing. I think it is actually a 5star app for real life.
Honestly this was the most disappointing thing about switching to ios from android. What did yall let Apple do to your app store? It’s nothing like I remember (last iphone was the 4) it being. Almost ever single app is a subscription now… It’s so depressing. I love the phone otherwise but the app store…yuck.
