WeVPN Subreddit removed my post asking about open source

Update: WeVPN responded to my original post, saying it was removed by mistake and that open source is on their roadmap. The original post is now back up and here is the link to their reply: https://reddit.com/r/WeVPN/comments/vl3d8t/_/iem6zua/?context=1

Original Text:
I had a simple question about WeVPN. The text was just “Why isn’t WeVPN open source?”

The post got upvoted very quickly but before I could get a response it got removed for no apparent reason, meanwhile less substantive posts are left up.

I was just asking because I couldn’t find an answer to this, but WeVPN moderators are looking very suspicious for deleting a simple question that has not been asked yet in their subreddit.

Does anyone here have an answer as to why WeVPN isn’t open source and also why a simple question would be deleted?

(Sorry for posting here, but r/VPN also removed my post, I’m just trying to get an answer for my question.)

Service has gone extremely downhill, in February im switching to Proton or IVPN.

WeVPN is another nice looking scam.

See also for what kind of business they are registered by another site https://www.dnb.com/business-directory/company-profiles.wevpn_ltd.60ab86a3c5cf3ea64a0df8e0d73a340e.html

I think the real question here is why would anyone use WeVPN

u/YourFriendsDog The reason is because we are only a 2 years and 3 months old VPN service, we are still optimizing and developing features for all our applications.

We are proud to say we will open source our applications and browser extensions. The first VPN providers to open source their applications took between 5 to 10 years to get there. We are planning to start our open source initiative before our 3 years anniversary. Your post was sincerely deleted by mistake. Our sincere apologies.

u/NerverServer We are sorry to hear about your recent experience at WeVPN. We are always trying to improve our service and not the contrary. We would love for you to open a ticket at [email protected] and provide your recent feedbacks, they will be taken in great consideration. Please mention you are coming from reddit /VPNTorrents.

I was researching VPNs and it looked like one of the best options. Which one would you suggest?

This doesn’t seem very relevant to the topic at hand, which isn’t the question itself but more that the moderators censored it.

Ah yes, the paid off website rankings and youtubers special. It’s how people end up using Nord, Express and the likes. Here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/VPNTorrents/comments/rikthc/list_of_recommended_vpns_2022/
