I’ve read these are usually your best bet, both cost the same here give or take a buck or two. So, what’s your experience ? I’m using Kodi via Firestick. Both have official apps on the Fire store or whatever it’s called.
I’m a NordVPN user for about 7 years now, but i can not get it to work with the newest LibreELEC version, because NordVPN is not compatible with Pyton 3.
Been using Nord for years. Regular updates and loads of servers to choose from. Really only have it for geolock and streaming sports.
It has apps for all platforms including android TV.
Actually was very useful on a recent trip to Africa where Facebook was blocked. I try buy the 3yr deals as it works out much cheaper

If using a debrid service you won’t need a VPN
If not using debrid you probably should use one, you should use Mullvad or ProtonVPN which are the most recommended at r/Privacyguides
NordVPN is not recommended
ExpressVPN is so easy. I use it for more than just Kodi. There are many public areas I want to have backend security.
Nord had a breech ages ago didn’t alert their users for a vpn that’s a a massive red flag they shouldn’t be used
Express has weak encryption
For ddl and debrid you generaly won’t need a vpn
if your using the firestick you could also setup vpn with namecheap fastvpn. You just have to utilize openvpn from amazon app store.
I just got kodi, and it worked well. Then I tried express vpn and now it gives me a “one or more items failed to play check log in” message. However when I turn my vpn off it works like a charm. Any ideas?
Can someone provide some information regarding why if using Real debrid one doesnt need a VPN ? I am from France and my country doesnt really joker about piracy and torrenting.

How do you use NordVPN on the more recent versions of Kodi? I have Kodi running on a CoreElec system on a Minix mini pc hardware.
A couple of years ago I got an email from NordVPN help-desk that kind of put me off: they said that developing an addon for Kodi newer version using Python 3 was not in their plans back then.
Do you guys have a solution on how to use it third party add-on and connect to NordVPN servers? I really would like to use Kodi with a bit of peace of mind… Thanks
I’m on surfshark too, Linux, windows and android. Works well and inexpensive.
Yeah, you’re fine without a VPN, as long as all of your streams are coming from RD. However, let’s say you were to use an add-on that streams torrents without RD, like Elementum, then you might want a VPN depending on the country that you live in.

I run kodi on windows and android so install Nord directly to the OS and set it to auto connect. Any app I run will go through the vpn by default. Sorry can’t help on coreElec as I haven’t run that OS in a very long time
This is the correct answer, particularly since Real Debrid tends to go down from time to time. That’s when I switch to a free service like ScrubV2 or The Crews’ free scrapes.
CyberGhost is another VPN that RD accepts and PCMag recently rated it as Best for Newbies.
