I can’t find anything addressing this issue online, all I can find is a guide on how to start using the VPN, and when I follow it I get this error.
i would recommend uninstalling totalAV.

there are many other VPN services you could use instead that are much better.
TotalAV is basically a scam, get rid of it. If it’s too late to get a refund, then make sure to at least cancel any auto-renewal of the subscription.
If you want a decent free AV, look those from Kaspersky or Bitdefender.
If you want a decent free VPN, look at those from ProtonVPN or Windscribe.
If you want a decent free password manager, look at the Bitwarden.

I got it because they had a promotion for 19 bucks for a year. Should I get rid of it right away? or is it worth keeping for the year and cancelling before the second charge.

I thought I was doing research into good vpns (went to a tier list and everything) but must’ve been one of those “affiliate sites posing as review sites”

I just wanted to protect my new pc I didn’t know the AV world was such a warzone.

Understandable really, the corporate side of our industry really likes to play that card. That’s a map of the VPN industry and affiliates like those to give you an idea of the sheer scale.

They are VPN only not antivirus,if you want a good antivirus Karpersky or Bitdefender are the two proper choices ,if you want bitdefender have a pack with their VPN,and bitdefender haves a really really long story doing good security products
Hello there u/WindscribeCommaMate … one year on I am here goinvg through the exact same issue - it seems the corporate side of the industry has claimed another victim - as I sit here with 20 links on my reading list - trying to figure out how to fix this bullshit after I was suckered into paying for TotalAV even against my intuition telling me it was a scam program… smh
Any chance you could help me out too?? I am stuck in a hotel right now and don’t trust this wifi as there are 2 other dupes and I can’t work out which one is the trustworthy one to connect to! And I am desperate to do some work online.
