I have a SurfShark VPN account, and wanted to use it on my laptop running Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, Gnome 42.2. (I’ve just recently moved away from Windows 7 on this thing)
I have it installed and it runs, but its always from Terminal, and I was wanting to find out if there was another way to run it from something other than terminal, that way I don’t have to keep typing in sudo surfshark-vpn status
I am using VPN for sailing the High Seas, and like to monitor things pretty closely, if that makes sense
If there is only a CLI app, it isn’t possible to get a GUI app without making one.
SurfShark has a Linux (deb) GUI app download on their website. I downloaded and installed it. I opened the app and it seems good. I don’t use SurfShark, but the app seems like the PIA app that I use.
Why are you not using the super nice GUI app then? (they do have one!)

Okay, thank you, I am still new to this and I think I found a way to tie it to the open vpn settings in the network area
If there is only a CLI app
That’s what bothers me here: Nobody mentions the beautiful official GUI app that exists??

When I did my search I came up with this link:
How to set up Surfshark VPN on Linux (Legacy version) – Surfshark Customer Support
Which I followed, and then this one for getting it to run through the network window
Connect to Surfshark VPN using Ubuntu Network Manager – Surfshark Customer Support
So crazy, my search really sucked, Thank you for the help

Not sure how I didn’t come across your link when I searched, Thank you though, I am following it now
It does? I don’t use SurfShark so excuse my idiocy.
I mean it shows the gui on the page

I didn’t mean you
Actually SurfShark themselves are to blame (if anything). If their own users can’t immediately find their nice GUI client because it is so well hidden somewhere somehow behind obscure blog posts and not so obvious download links then I guess it is about time they reconsider their website design…
