June 28 2024 — Is anyone else experiencing SSL VPN not working? It seemed to have happened overnight for us on June 27 2024. I don’t know if it was an automatic Windows update or if our SonicWALL is having an issue and needs a reboot.
Our SonicWALL is a TZ 670 and the users are on Windows 10 Pro computers with either SonicWALL Mobile Connect with the built-in Windows VPN, or the latest version of NetExtender 64-bit 10.2.340
I had some limited success deleting all their WAN Miniport Adapters (about 8 of them) in Device Manager, then rebooting. But shortly after the problem came back (“Can’t connect to ___. Unable to connect to server “___”. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond…”).
For now, I have the users connecting with L2TP VPN but this is not a long-term solution, we’d like to get back on SSL VPN.
Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions? Reboot the SonicWALL?
We’ve been having issues with SSL-VPN since installing Update to Firmware 7.1.1-7051 and the Hot Fix that mitigates the DDoS attack affecting SSL-VPN portal.
The error message is basically “Server is unreachable”.
We’ve been failing back and forth between Primary and Secondary in order to work around the problem. If you don’t have an HA config, then a reboot is likely needed.
My case was escalated to engineering and they issued another Hot Fix this past Friday (June 28th). The root cause description for the HF is:
unexpected RST packet could be generated from the stack, which doesn’t kill the TCP connections in the firewall, but does kill the TCP connections in the client, the TCP connection records in the firewall, and results in an fd leak issue.
All of them? Sounds like an issue on the SonicWall side, not the clients
I have about 40 SSLVPN users across the country, TZ470 running x7058.
2 weeks ago I had a user with issues.
Resolved by:
Uninstall the Windows 10\11 Mobile Connect app
Restart the machine
Reinstall the App
Setup a new VPN profile
No issues since
Had to rollback to previous version as issue with 10.2.340 and TOTP.
Requests a code, but no text field available to enter it.
Rolled back to version 10.2.339 and it worked again.
