Well shit. We tried 7.4 without success. This may be it…
Thanks
I have the same issue when I’m trying to upgrade from FortiClient 6.4.9 to 7.2.4 on some computer. Did you have a link that explains this.
I can confirm that this issue is still present in the FortiClient 7.4.1 and 7.4.2.
And if the Visual C++ Redistributable is not installed, VPN with SSO will simply not work.
This happened to us too on some machines, confirmed the Visual C++ install worked. Now it seems on a machine, when Forticlient 7.4.2 is installed and running that we upgraded from 7.2.7, we can’t open Powershell anymore without getting this error:
How did you figure out that you needed this installed?
Which specific C++ redistributable did you install? There are several that could apply…

Yup just ran into this today and thanks to your comment it pointed me to the redistributable. Thanks!
On fortnet forum.
I tried running it manually “C:\Program Files\Fortinet\FortiClient\FortiTray.exe”
This returned “mfc140u.dll not found” error.
And from previous experience I already knew that this DLL was included in Visual C++ Redistributable
I installed it and it worked
Latest (Current 14.40.33810.0)
So this was a missing dll on your PC?
I followed the same reasoning but I did not have time to search for this dll and therefore the corresponding package. Thanks for the time saved!
