Opera Now Has a Totally Free and Unlimited Built-In VPN

Direct link for the download (couldn’t see it in the OC3D post)

I tested it with pornhub which is usually blocked if I tether to my phone and it worked perfectly

remember, with a free VPN you become the product

Will this let you download torrents without your ISP seeing? Asking for my cat.

Does anyone know if this is working with Netflix too?

I’ll give it a test with YouTube here in Germany, half of which is blocked by the cunts at GEMA.

Now I just have to convince myself that it’s worth it to re-enter all my passwords…

Never trust free VPNs. Has everybody forgt about the whole Hola incident already?

Well I was thinking about jumping away from the bloatfest that is now Google Chrome (Not the RAM circlejerk BTW, it’s massively bloated now compared to chromium, due to google stuff)

Was considering going back to Firefox, but will probably give Opera a go now instead, plus I don’t need an adblocker as Opera has it built in now, can always use uBlock Origin too.

Isn’t Opera bought by the Chinese (gov)?

Isn’t a VPN counterproductive to what the Chinese government usually wants?

Something is fishy about this…

Well, with that little addition to their browser Opera now has a home on my system as a backup browser… and the one I use when I want to buy games from the Mexican Origin store to save money on my games.

Free? Yup. Avoid like the plague. When a service is free, the product is you, e.g. Facebook, Google, etc.

If you are going to use this vpn to get round blocks/censorship it will be fine. But if you are concerned about privacy AT ALL its a paper shield, still best to go with a no logs paid for provider.

One small issue seems to be imported bookmark folders. I can’t find a way to have them display as they would in Firefox. Does Opera not do folders?

I use PIA for my VPN needs along with chrome for a browser. If I switched to Opera, would that negate the need for me to use PIA?

Does it use the VPN for browser-wide browsing… or can you set it for specific site, like for reddit only.

The reason being, when i use VPN i find that streaming and general browsing become slugish and my country decided to block Reddit for no reason, so now i’m using foxy proxy for just reddit and direct connection for everything else.

Tried it, but it really struggles with 360p videos on youtube. Maybe its overloaded…
Edit: It gets better after using it for a while (3-5min). Can watch 720p now

It doesn’t work for me. It just says “Connecting…” and nothing happens.

VPN appears to work nicely. I was getting 27mb down, routed through florida. My connection is only 25mb down lol

I see my virtual location in the address bar button as canada but whatismyip.com still knows my right ip…
