Looking for the easiest method for a vpn on xbox

I’m seeking to keep all my other devices on bgw300 and the Xbox to run through a router (er605 or other) for the VPN. To keep the other devices off the VPN.

Or should I just upgrade by replacing the bgw300-500 with rt-ax3000?
If I do that I’m worried about VPN interfering with speed, and live streaming services blocking due to VPN.

Any suggestions?
I’m new to all of this

Using Nordvpn
Fiberoptic internet
Xbox will be ethernet only

Why do you think you need a VPN?

A VPN is not about privacy, it is about an encrypted connection between two end-points. You will always sacrifice speed when using a VPN.

Don’t want to be booted off or Ip tracked. Don’t care about websites selling/buying my porn history. I understand that it’ll have an impact on speed it was just a con I pointed out. Kinda why I want a router instead of a modem/router combo. just seeking other ideas or suggestions for a plug and play method.

Doesn’t matter if you get ip tracked or not. Your IP is almost the last thing that’s used to get you tracked, as most people these days are behind CG-NAT anyway and the internet isn’t at the point where ipv6 only is a real option.

If you don’t care about the fact that companies sell your porn history or that it is tied to you at all, then just don’t bother. VPNs are, as the redditor above said, usually for a secure connection between two endpoints. These endpoints are you and the company. Not you and the internet. Someone else will control your traffic then and as long as you don’t need the routing over another path, it just makes no sense.

A VPN has one good use case and that’s to circumvent geoblocking.

In terms of getting “booted off”, idk what you mean with that, but if you are afraid, that someone gets your ip address to track you, then don’t worry… IP addresses change often for personal users. If you have bought explicitly a static one, then protect it. Otherwise it really doesn’t matter. If you are on IPv4 just reboot the router and you get a new one. If you also have IPv6 you just do the same. Sometimes you need to enable “give me a random ipv6 adress” in the router tho.
