And when the D prioritization of Verizon hits it won’t matter what VPN you use because you won’t have much bandwidth to work with but I’m glad that you’re enjoying the iOS beta

For me on US Mobile on an iPhone SE it is not any faster or slower with private relay on or off

iCloud Private Relay is not a VPN.

This is a link that shows the throttle when relay is off of 4mbps https://imgur.com/a/5xvK2tW

Only if you pay for iCloud+

this isn’t correct, this will only work in safari and I believe Mail

so none of your video streaming apps can take advantage of this

you’d have to use m.youtube.com on safari to use this

oh crap it turns out i’m completely wrong

icloud private relay does work in third party apps

/u/jesco92 is totally right

if you’re paying for icloud already this is a no brainer

Remember VPN doesn’t help the speed it just helps you mirror download speeds when streaming to get 1080p-4k resolution.

Your data is encrypted, which carriers don’t know what you are using the data for. They could call it w.e they was but the difference is literally a 1% of a regular VPN but work 99% the same.

I used the youtube app & it worked. Remember it’s on beta as of now it’s working for me perfectly. Maybe they will fix it later but rn it works

But usually with a VPN you would see faster speeds on the fast.com speed test app

Little more complicated than that:

That explanation fails to mention that this VPN-like service (that is not a full blown VPN), 1, requires you to subscribe to an iCloud storage plan to use it, and, 2, your IP is only masked when using Safari. It doesn’t affect apps or other web browsers.

“In addition, Private Relay only works with Safari — not other web browsers or apps — making it a far more limited option than other VPN services, especially when combined with the fact that it can’t be used for dodging geographic location limits.”

Yes, that’s correct. When you do a regular vpn other than private relay do you get better mbps?

That’s what it was initially created for but it’s working for my third party apps.

It actually gets much worse, from 4Mbps to 200Kbps, Windscribe VPN

But whenever I use PotatoVPN, it’s better, about 7Mbps

Interesting! What apps?
