Internet doesnt work a few minutes after i turn on my vpn

After i turn on my vpn, the internet works for some time but then it randomly stops and opera says that an antivirus or a firewall stops me from connecting.I’ve tried turning off my avira firewall but it doesnt help.

Anti-virus softwares usually block VPN connections, not too sure if it’s related and why it happens after some time though. Try uninstalling any anti-virus software you have, if it does not help, try switching between TCP UDP and NordLynx in the settings of Nord app.

I face disconnection for a few seconds when I turn on VPN but that is expected because Once the VPN tunnel is established, the system will drop all existing connections and then start routing requests via Tunnel. So a few seconds drop as soon as you turn on internet connection is good. It means your VPN connection is handled properly. As far as for me, I am also using Anti-virus software but it never interfered in my connection. Which Anti-virus system are you using?

It happened to me as well. I uninstalled it, restarted my pc and installed it again. It worked since then

Clicked on this post because having same issue (different a/v) and got this error.

Sometimes it will be stable for days, other times it stops working every ten minutes. Tried switching protocols, didn’t help.

Does Webroot do it too, anyone experience that?

If you’re using Windows 10, this should work:

Here are some settings to maximize your traffic and keep you secured:

Windows 10: Go to Network & Internet settings > Network connections>Ethernet/wifi> right click on properties> unselect everything EXCEPT “NordVPN Lightweight Firewall” (If you don’t see that, do a fresh reinstall of NordVPN) & Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Disable TCP/IPv6 to prevent any leaks. Do the same thing for all other Network Connections that includes NordVPN TAP and NordLynx. Press OK and make sure they’re all the same.

I find nord is laggy af lately

Avira. The problem is that it can work for even an hour and then the connection drops its so random.

ok i will try. thanks

I haven’t had any problems, what device are you using?

Maybe check if there is some issue at your ISP end. VPN are designed to destroy the tunnel if they detect intrusion and reestablish new tunnel with new keys. This helps provide more protection while surfing. However the intrusion detection mechanism are not perfect and may lead to false positive in many cases if your ISP uses bad network infrastructure

Firetv but not the 4k version, could be resource lag.
