Hello I’m (29M) want to live and work in China.
I live in Mexico, I speak Spanish and Russian at a native level and English very fluently.
In which site I can look for a job? Is it easier to find a job in the country?
I want to learn Chinese (mandarin) and have more experience working abroad. Is this possible? Any suggestions? Thank you all in advance.
I live in Mexico
Hate to say it, but, how white are you? Chinese are pretty freaking racist about skin color.
These are just from my own personally witnessed experiences (heard of plenty of others though): An English teacher in the city I was living in was fired after summer break because he came back “too dark” (he was of Persian descent). I also watched a completely uneducated, zero experience, illegal immigrant (who could barely speak English) get an English teaching job instead of a masters level college educated educator with impeccable English, again, because of race (one was blond hair blue eyed, other was black…I’ll let you guess which was which). Not that you’d be able to teach English anyway, as you are not from an “English First” speaking country…but it will still greatly affect your ability to get any job.
All that being said, dude, you probably don’t want to be moving to China right now. Not exactly the best time for expats.
Just like you don’t want to live in Ukraine or Russia now, you don’t want to live in China now. Wait until after 2027.
My suggestion is that don’t live in China. The Zero COVID policy in China has gone mad. The economy is not doing well because of that. The lockdown happened in Shanghai in April this year is happening all over the country. If you go to China now, you may risk being forced to stay home for weeks even months when you can’t even get groceries. I am a Chinese and I am telling you that this is not a good time to go to China. Maybe you could consider going to China after the CCP decides that the pandemic is over.
Taiwan offers an authentic Chinese experience with no “zero covid” or quarantine, excellent healthcare and no faux communist fascist nonsense. Mainland is far too shady for foreigners. Otherwise I would’ve stayed. If you love Chinese culture and people, go to Taiwan.
Taiwan till Tiananmen‘s taught.
You might find an English teacher job in China if you are “white” enough. Don’t worry about the fact that you are not a native speaker. The employers only care about the skin color. That sounds insane but it’s true.
You are aware that you’ll be living in a brutal, fascist, totalitarian dictatorship correct? With concentration camps, organ harvesting and genocide happening right now. Where you have zero rights and anything said against the government means you disappear.
When so many people from China are trying to get out. What possible reason could you have for gong there? Might as well move to North Korea. You’ll have the same rights and freedoms there as you would in China…
欢迎你到中国🇨🇳大陆,考虑到你会很多语言,我会推荐工资收入比较高的语言老师工作给你,你能拿到工作签证吗
It depends what industry you want to work in. If you want to teach Spanish or Russian, you will have a hard time finding a job. English is where the demand is and they won’t give you a legal work permit for teaching English due to your nationality.
I would recommend seeking university jobs for Spanish or Russian and teaching English on the side when you get here.
I have no tips, but I also would like to live there in the future. Good luck to you!
china used to be fun to be in, i was there 10 years and only just left. but the zero covid policy has really stamped out alot of what made life good there. cant travel out of china without isolation on return, constant daily covid tests when traveling within china. seemingly constant stream of other expats leaving, etc.
are you sure ? Btw, I come from China
I have been told that, I’m thinking of Hong Kong now.
I was born in Russia (Tatarstán), I hope I’m white enough? Haha
Oh I see, thank you for this information. That’s sad, I really want to visit your country but I don’t want the tourist experience. Hope everything get better soon!
Ok! Thank you!! What about jobs? Are they easy to find for foreigners?
Taiwan does have quarantine entering, but it’s 3+4 rn
Are jobs easy to find in Hong Kong?
You may go to PRC as a tourist to see if it is a good idea…
Not while tourist visas still aren’t issued he can’t
