How to use a VPN to ensure access to content in Utah

Won’t this “internet ID requirement” cause the exact same issues as voter ID laws, which have been deemed unconsistutional?

ID laws disproportionately affect the poor, as they may not have the funds to purchase/replace an ID. So no internet access for them? And dreamers - they don’t have IDs because they were brought to the US illegally as children, so now they can’t use social media either?

Thank you for this. Please continue to post this as many times as needed. Most citizens think that a simple VPN will solve all of their problems. This is a MUCH bigger issue.

As a Utah female resident, I am so upset by this. We already have enough violent sexual crime by sexually repressed LDS men. What the fuck are we gonna do now?

This worked. Now these Mormon legislators can’t keep me off IG or Reddit

yungloosie

This is awesome. I wish I had known about this earlier and it has nothing to do with porn.

How was I not using this already! Also, I’m going to suspect that digital marketing in Utah just got way harder. Business leaders are going to be pissed!

Isn’t this just an Apple VPN with another name? Also can you see where this VPN goes? If they ever add a site in Utah it could send your traffic there and you would still have this issue.

Yah it is a solid work around but we shouldn’t have to do that.

legality of VPN use in the US is still undetermined.

no it’s not, they’re completely legal

Several prominent VPN providers have been subject to data breaches and privacy violations in recent years

pick a VPN provider that doesn’t log anything, there are plenty out there, see eg the police raid on Mullvad a couple of weeks ago:

You know what they say: VPNs for access, darknets for privacy.

“porn”

What a stupid taboo. I get why it exists (especially here), but still… stupid taboo.

Personally I use mine most of all for resetting my ip address when ebay decides it thinks I’ve browsed too much and so must be a bot and then demands I fill out 20 captcha screens before it’ll let me bid on anything.

I’m not sure if you’re spending too little on sex workers or too much on your VPNs. But even if my girlfriend is sitting right next to me in bed, it’s the same tiny amount of effort to click two buttons to enable a VPN as it is to say “let’s have sex”

pornhub has chosen to block Utah rather than enforce the new state law that requires them to do age verification via uploading a state id.

Other sites may either follow the state law and request a copy of your state id, ignore state law and face prosecution, or follow pornhub’s example and block access from Utah

It’s not about porn. It’s about privacy. Porn may be the uncomfortable elephant in the room right now (because PornHub was the first company to act on this law), but so much more is at stake in the long run.

Or, stay with me now, go outside, get some sun, use your imagination to beat off

Are you advocating for public masturbation?

So a few things. There was an actual law passed. It was SB 287 and was signed into law by Governor Cox March 14th and goes into effect today. It requires Porn sites to verify age with a

an independent, third-party age verification service that
compares the personal information entered by the individual who is seeking access to the material that is available from a commercially available database, or aggregate of databases,
that is regularly used by government agencies and businesses for the purpose of age and
identity verification
Or any commercially reasonable method that relies on public or private transactional data to verify the age of the person attempting to access the material.

If you watched the video you’d know that you don’t need to buy a VPN, civic action is definitely encouraged, and you can use UtahLovesPorn.com to find your representative, and ToddWeilersMomFucks.Org to help you write a letter

Lol, those are fantastic URLs! You should get the national ones ready, lol.

You’re doing great work man! Thank you for fighting the good fight! I’ll be getting my own AI letter sent later, using your URLs

Consider these issues from a radicalized far right position. Everything you’ve listed is a plus for them.

Well I certainly hope it’s deemed unconstitutional. I just worry that the social media companies will actually support this. They’d love to get their hands on everyone’s government issued ID and keep a current copy on file at all times.

If the multi billion dollar corporations support it, then it’s probably a done deal.
