Dedicated IP via NordVPN Question

Hey guys,

I have been using NordVPN this past month and have experienced drops in my connection to their “Public” IP addresses within the day.

Would subscribing to their Dedicated IP service keep me connected 24/7 and reeduce the drops in connection?

I know it’s not my internet service because when I log off of the VPN, everything works just fine.

Any feedback helps, thanks in advance!

short answer is, nobody knows. there are too many variables in play for anyone to say for sure.

what i would recommend, though, before you take the leap, is to experiment with other protocols/countries, and see if that improves the stability of the connection.

I have a dedicated IP from NordVPN for about 5 months now, it is very stable, no drops whatsoever, I can be connected to it via UDP OpenVPN on my router for a week straight. The IP that I get is actually a different IP block from the ones that are given to you (regular NordVPN users), it is a clean IP, and I have not had any problems with banking websites or retail websites. The thing is you still connect to a “dedicated ip” server on Nord’s list, but the IP they give you is different and static from when you would just regularly connect. So I would recommend to test out the dedicated IP server first, before paying $70 for a dedicated IP. In order to see the “dedicated IP” servers under “Speciality Servers” you need to change your protocol to TCP or UDP, these only work with the dedicated IP servers, if you like the connection then you can apply for the dedicated IP. I find that these servers are very fast, and their load % is always really low.

There are multiple causes for stability issues and there are some configurations that might help even with public servers. Try switching to OpenVPN TCP in the app settings menu (VPN protocol) or IKEv2 (if using macOS or iOS) as that might help. The only way the dedicated IP would help is if the issue is if you use public servers with a high load, however, there are tons of other available servers, so the load isn’t usually very high for them.
