Databases Extremely Out of Date

I have automatic database updates setup but for some reason I keep being told my database is out of date.

I go to mainly update it, it gets like 8% through, and then the problem pops up again.

I’ve tried closing and reopening the software but no luck. Any solutions?

If you’re in the US, the downloads and updates are banned. You have to use a VPN to change your location, I hear.

I hope they unban it in the United states, because it’s a great antivirus!

mine says the databases are extremely out of date but when I look at the logs it says my update was successful, no updates needed… but then I sitll have that “extremely out of date” notification

Got the same issues, using a vpn worked a week or so ago but now its not. Changed server location, and tried several different vpn countries, no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

I am getting this now. I can update the databases via VPN, and then a few hours later Kaspersky claims the databases are extremely out of date. Also configured Kaspersky to use the Mexico Update Servers. Update only works via VPN.

VPN is one way of getting around the issue, but with those who do not have VPN, here is another way to manually add Kaspersky’s international server:

Open Kaspersky application and click on the following and add server name:

  1. Database Update

  2. Schedule

  3. Select Update Resources

    • Add
  4. Copy “http://s00.upd.kaspersky.com” and paste in the box. Click on “Select”

  5. Ensure that “Status” is checked

  6. Save

This should allow the updates to take place automatically in the background.

so whats the next best thing to Kaspersky

The last database update I received was on 11/15/24. Since then Kaspersky has indicated Up-to-date databases. Is that correct? Has anyone received updates since then?

EDIT: I went to the update screen and manually updated the databases. Databases release date is now 11/17/24.

Just change the location of the Kaspersky server outside of the USA. Don’t have to use VPN.

Use http://dnl-06.geo.kaspersky.com - Mexico City

Thank you - any idea why it’s banned in the US now? i love this free security app. Used to use Norton but it killed the performance on my system.

so that’s why I now have ultraAV on my machine… sonuva…

Exit Kaspersky. Run the VPN to another country. Start Kaspersky. Update.

That is the only way I found that it works.

You’re a life saver!

It it was working OK, it would not say that. Do the Mexico backup setting and then try again after flipping on the Kaspersky VPN (any location) or a VPN to any non-US location before you update.

Which vpn did you try? The Kaspersky vpn works for me to get updates on desktop, but not for mobile phone. Proton free vpn works for that so far.

Kaspersky does that for me if it attempts an auto update without a vpn turned on.

On an android phone, if it attempts to update without a vpn, it will remove the most recent av database and revert to one from Oct 23.

That’s about the timeframe that a vpn became necessary for it to work for me. Prior to that, database updates worked with no problem, without vpn and without having to use any alternate Kaspersky update servers.

thanks this worked, but you need to uncheck the status in the default source

How do you do this? I don’t see an option for this in the app
