Computer won't let me connect to external VPN server

So, my job has a VPN server that we can remote into to access the share drives. I have a chromebook and a desktop. The chromebook connects just fine to the VPN, though is horribly slow and small. Because of this I wanted to use my desktop to connect to the work drives, but it’s coming up with an error saying the server isn’t responding and won’t connect. It’s absolutely my computer, because I can have this error on the desktop while my chromebook is connected to the server. I’ve tried disabling my firewall and any other defense programs. I’ve tried connecting my desktop via wifi and via ethernet cable. I’ve tried googling the issue, but it keeps giving me answers for if you can’t connect to a home VPN server, which doesn’t help because I have no control over the work server. Aside from that, it isn’t an issue with the work server because my chromebook connects just fine. I’m at a loss for what to do. I mainly bought this desktop so I’d be able to work from home. Are there any other settings you all can think of that might fix the issue?

Sounds like a question you need to ask your employer.

Had a similar issue at work (tech support).
Something was forcing the Ethernet adapter to use google DNS (this is on ‘clean’ rebuilds on the bench from a deployment server), we changed the internet adapter DNS manually to the VPNs DNS and it allowed connection.

We could change it back to auto afterward because for some reason it’s only the first connection that fails.

It’s not a problem on their end, though, it’s with my desktop specifically.

Can u pls explain what should i do exactly

I’ll give this a try!

Has your IT dept. told you specifically that its not a problem on their end? Just because its working on your chromebook doesn’t mean it’s an issue with your desktop. Is the chromebook your personal device or a work issued device?

They have. And the chromebook is a personal device.
