Cannot Activate Game Code [Arg] on Xbox Argentina via VPN

Hello folks,

I bought an Argentinian game code for Cyberpunk 2077 via Gamivo. In the past, I could redeem such codes for my German account by using Tunnelbear VPN.

I have tried it like this:

1.) Connected with Tunnelbear

2.) Logged into the Argentinian Xbox Website

3.) Went to https://redeem.microsoft.com

This time, however, I received an error message: „This code can’t be redeemed. It was purchased in a different region from your account.“

What could have been wrong?

PS: First time I tried this, I started the VPN connection AFTER I had logged into my account. Maybe this caused a problem!? I read in a forum that Microsoft then may issue a ban for 72 hours, such that you should wait for that period of time before trying to redeem the code as well. Not sure, whether this might explain the problem!?

I think it might just the vpn try a different vpn i recently redeemed turkish codes and they worked i used nord vpn

Use Vpn unlimited for 7 days as a guest, argentina vpn works fine

Hey man, were you able to redeem the code? I have exactly the same problem with you, I’m also using Tunnel Bear VPN

Even on the redeeem site, it says: Redeem code in xxxxx acount (Argentina), but when I add the code, I get the Geo-locked error

Tunnelbear was the problem i guess? I thought MS blacklisted that ARG ip from Tunnelbear

You guys are all legends. I had same issue with chivalry 2 redeem and then downloaded free vpn as recommended, which is 10 times faster than other vpns I was using and this one works!!!

If anyone wants the link to download from play store, here it is
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freevpn

NOTE : to use it free, click on basic with ads at the top. Then select how long you want to use it and you have to scroll through ads (took me just 40 seconds to get 4 hours of access)

For others reading this, I only got it to accept the code by switching around which device I was using my VPN on. My PC and my Xbox wouldn’t take it while on the VPN, but my iPhone set to an Argentinian IP address and on the Microsoft website eventually did. You’ll have to set your Xbox’s region to the “correct” area to get it to start downloading (even if it’s on your account, it’ll gray out the install button if the region is off).

As of today buying an Argentino title on Gamivo and turning on the VPN to redeem the code works.

Try and use some lesser known VPN providers or ones with multiple VPN connection spots in the same country.

Have you tried changing your region in your Xbox/Microsoft settings? I set it from mine to ARG and had no issues at all… purchased from Gamivo and Eneba and others

As for Today I used X-VPN with Free Trial to Connect to Argentina from the US with Remote install after Redeem Code. I went through 7 VPNs before this one worked.

I also had my region Changed on my xbox to Arg during the Download but not sure if this is necessary.

Hope this helps the next person!

I tried again today. It doesn’t work. Changes VPN, waited for 72 hours, deleted all cookies.

Did you ever find a solution?

Did it work for you?

Oh no! Then i need to get a new vpn i guess for friday ;(

Yes, I tried later with another Arg code. It didn’t work either, until I switched to another VPN. In short: I cannot exclude that the problem was caused by a problem with the particular code, but it definitely was caused by the VPN provider. Best thing you can do is change the VPN. I ended up using Free VPN from the iOS appstore.

So you recommend Gamivo? What should I look out for on the sellers? I’m trynna buy Cyberpunk 2077. The cheapest seller has 130 orders and the more expensive one has 16000. Is it safe to buy from the cheapest seller? Thank you.

Thank you!!! Accidentally bought a game from Argentina and have been trying for the last hour via different methods and nothing was working. I switched to a different VPN and it’s now installing :grinning_face:

Download link?

edit: Urban VPN will work as well.

Youre a lifesaver, thank you!
