Avg secure browser safe?

I got avg on my pc and the browser just came along with it, I didn’t think much of it and used it a couple of times. E.g for doing some work on my epic games account like password and email, do you think I should change it again on Chrome or something like that or should I be safe?

Edit: I have already deleted avg and the browser too, and set a new password for epic games on chrome. Don’t know If I’m being paranoid or not.

The browser is fine, but pointless. AVG is a pretty terrible AV in itself. It use to be good back in it’s glory days, but it’s just another bloated Avast clone in a different skin now.

Just use your browser of choice with a good ad-block like uBlock Origin and you’ll have plenty of protection. I like Firefox based browsers, but Chrome is perfectly secure, though definitely not privacy minded.

In case you are paranoid, use TAILS or an immutable VM with a VPN on top of TOR and change passwords in there.

Thanks, I was just worried because after using it I read somewhere that they sell data and so I started thinking oh no I just leaked my email and password, but I guess I’m okay then? I did everything on the official site by epic games tho no malicious websites

By leaking data, they are probably referring to telemetry the browser collects, not your passwords. They are basically selling your browsing habits to marketers. Most mainstream browsers do this, especially Chrome. Google is an ad company after all.

Okay, I am feeling better now. Thanks for the clarification!
