Surfshark is connected to a virtual server in India. But Google shows Bangladesh, Egypt etc. WhatismyIP shows Delhi or Mumbai. Whom should I trust. I mainly subscribed to watch Indian OTT content. If this doesn’t work, then I will cancel during the trial period.
India’s servers are configured as said, so it’s bad, surfshark just blames other services saying their db is not updated, go with proton or express if you want India IP,
Hotstar if you buy in India is like Disney , star , star sports and HBO all in one . So ya it’s worth it … what are you watching on Sony LIV
We don’t have hulu in Canada so I’m possibly missing out on some Malayalam movies . But we watch a lot of those here on prime and hotstar
It does not work. Don’t waste your money.
Hi All,
I have set up my own wireguard server in Oracle-cloud, and my client in a dd-wrt router. I have Google-Chromecast connected to the router and I was able to run everything and get Netflix and Amazon-Prime natively run the server-IP country content.
But a few apps (SonyLiv, Jio) are able to detect the VPN.
I did reset everything and now I am not even able to get Netflix or Amazon-Prime running.
I suspect two things:
- MTU settings
- UDP vs TCP protocol or port discovery.
Does anyone have any pointers or is interested in teaming-up to get this working? Please feel free to comment or DM.
Ooh I didn’t know about Hotstar getting so many things. I bought SonyLiv for Malayalam movies. A lot of Malayalam movies going to Sony. Just to make sure I am covered among Prime, Netflix, Hotstar and SonyLiv
In the US Hotstar is part of HULU. But if you already have Hotstar, then you are covered. I also get Spotify with Indian account and use it here. It is pennies per month. Just FYI.
They have a 30 day cancellation too if it doesn’t work for you . But Surfshark just wasn’t good for hotstar .
Good idea . I’m on Apple Music , need to consider changing that over to India too .
Yeah try. I got back a prepaid India SIM attached to my UPI to sign up for these.
