I have been trying to play this weekend with a friend, we are both living in china and we have connection problems all the time. Game always crashing… This also happens us in aoe4. We tried it using vpn and don’t using it. Any experience in this?
Works fine for me. My ping always seems like it’s worse than it should be for some reason, but I think that’s just my internet connection. Other than that, no issues.
Also, I would be very surprised if there were any kind of general problems with the game on a Chinese internet connection, seeing as there seems to be a pretty sizable player base here. Much more likely it’s just some issue with one of your connections or computers (have you tried separately? maybe you can figure out whose end it is on).
I am near China. You should sign into the game with vpn internet and switch once you get to the loading screen this should help. Also we should play together some time if you feel like meming it up

Not living jn China but watching Mr. Yo’s stream(top player from China) he seems to always enable the “加速器” before starting a game. No idea what that means or does. Maybe it’s a VPN. Worth asking in his stream chat.
AoE2 expats for the win! I live in China and play on my lunchbreaks. We should get a group together.
Our internet’s seems to be good… We download games from gamepass at 10mb/s or more. We downloaded aoe2 because aoe4 was crushing all the time for us, we thought it was because the game is new and full of bugs but now this is happening. Do you play in gamepass version?

No, I have it on steam, maybe that affects it but I’m not sure how much difference that’ll make seeing as it’s the same game servers in the end.
Also worth noting that download speed being good doesn’t necessarily mean your connection is fast and/or stable when it comes to connecting to a game. Is your ping good? And have you tried just playing single player games to see if they work OK? It’s probably useful to isolate if it’s an issue with the game/your PC, vs. something to do with your internet connection.
