Would a VPN be Beneficial for Me?

My wife runs a small business. We are the only two employees/owners of the business. We’re looking to add a second computer.

Currently, all business related files are stored in the cloud through Google Drive. The only business file saved locally are the programs we use, Quickbooks, tax software, and payroll software. All client related files from those programs are also stored in the cloud.

By adding a second computer, we would use the same process, locally storing the programs but using the online file path for client files.

Since all client files are under Google’s cloud security, how would a VPN benefit me?

Since all the files you are looking for are on Google Drive, having a VPN probably won’t affect you in the slightest. The only reason I can think that you would like to have a VPN for is if you don’t trust the connection to the internet.

If you are worried your ISP or neighbour is snooping your Wifi/network. Other than that, it doesn’t appear you really need a VPN. Google has transport layer encryption for all their services (you can opt-in to https only connections in your browser).

You sound like you want a firewall to help protect your inbound and outbound streams of data. I would recommend exploring how to protect your data boundaries with an expert.

You dont need a vpn for this

it won’t be useful at all, don’t waste money

You don´t need a VPN for this, it would be wasted money.

What you need vpn for in this case? Are these pcs in diffrent locations or what? If they are in the same location, how did you came with an idea to use vpn in a first place?

If you ever are working on your business in a public place such as a coffee shop then a VPN may be beneficial but otherwise you should be okay
