What is the best VPN against geoblocks?

How does NordVPN behave against geoblocking?

I am having a lot of problems with Optus Sport which is an Australian streaming platform.

I have subscribed to Mullvad VPN but unfortunately it does not have servers optimised to bypass geoblocks. How does NordVPN perform in this respect?

Does anyone use NordVPN with Optus Sport?

Optus Sports - in my experience - is one of the best/worst generally at blocking VPNs, across all providers. I gave up in the end.

My hunch, is that they also check latency - basically anything over 150ms, is almost certainly outside of Oz … and that is even accounting for their generally sh*tty residential broadband connections over there.

Not directly relevant, but I get good results with Nord for BBC access, particularly for streaming (rather than downloads).

My recommendation: think twice before even considering using service provided by Nord. You won’t have a constant experience with intermittent connectivity issues, unable to connect entirely at times… the paid for reviews on the review sites and app stores kinda say it all really.

Avoid like the plague… and that doesn’t even cover the auto-renewal issues people seem to be experiencing over and over.?!

No experience with site, app and location you are asking about.

But for geo stuff, I’ve had pretty good success with certain racing series, some scandinavian tv stations, and EU content.

I’ve been able to get New Zealand tv.

I can’t get Nord and BBC to play nice together, so I can’t watch iBBC content.

I use Nord with 1 or 2 Aus streaming sites but not optus.

Make sure you’re using OpenVPN UDP in Nord and try it from an incognito window. If it doesn’t work, disable ipv6 on your machine before trying again.

If it still doesn’t work after all that, then they might just be really good at blocking vpns.

I’ve had no issues with the above settings on most streaking streaming sites though.

OP I haven’t had any issues with any US service. Maybe try a smaller vpn. Surfshark for example or Proton. Why use Optus Sport? There are U.S. equivalents.

If you really want it try to rent a VPS with unlimited bandwidth and setup your own vpn server on it for your own private viewing.

I got it. Thank you

Yeah I started using Nord explicitly for streaming too and seems to be all well and good

Which one do you recommend then?

Try out the Servers in Edinburgh or Glasgow

Use Firefox focus with it for the BBC

I have only tried the Optus Sport app on my smartphone. My intention is to use their app on Nvidia Shield TV.

The thought of a site strictly dedicated to “Streaking” made me smile.

I have separate UK and USA residential IP VPNs - with different providers. Smaller is generally better, in my view.

I gave up on Optus, even tried all reasonably priced VPS - hosting in Oz is horrendously expensive generally and it would seem most VPN providers had already hosted there/got blocked (Optus, 10play, etc).
