I wanted to start completing my documentation on my laptop away from my home internet and was wondering if anyone knows what options are considered hipaa compliant. What do others use in this situation? Hot spot? Portable WiFi? Is there anything you do to add extra security? Thank you in advance!
A vpn is all you need
Portable WiFi! I use solis. But just using a VPN will probably do it
I use my phone as a mobile hot spot, so I don’t have to connect to any sketchy wi-fi. It also works great for traveling, I can do my notes while my husband drives lol

No problem at all. It depends on if your using a phone or a computer. If you have an iPhone download the app “vpn super unlimited proxy” it’s free and all you do is click the button that says “connect” and now your phone is behind a different ip address meaning it doesn’t connect back to you. On a computer you can download any of the free ones I don’t know how good they would be. It honestly may be better to get surfshark or any other cheap vpn service I already paid for a different one for other reasons so I can’t say if it’s worth it or not in your situation.
I’d say the most important thing to do is to first Watch a video on how vpn’s work so u know how these will protect you and see if its enough protection that your thinking about.
