Anyone else with this issue? I’ve been back and forth with support and it’s like talking to a brick wall unfortunately.
Clearly something wrong with the new iOS app, or something changed in an iOS release recently.
I have my vpn on 24/7 and it makes no difference if I’m on wifi or mobile data. But about 30% of the time I unlock my phone I have zero data. Nothing loads. Nothing happens, until of course I disconnect the vpn then boom back to life and I reconnect and it’s all happy again. For a few hours that is…
The default protocol is NordLynx. Try a different protocol. In the app click profile, settings, protocol. I switched mine to IKEv2 and it fixed the problem.
I’m having a similar issue. Sometimes I get a connection immediately, sometimes it times out and refuses to connect. I don’t know if it’s the new iOS or new phone. I got a new phone with the new iOS so it could be either. I was going to renew Black Friday but right now it only works for me about half the time I want to use it.
It seems changing the protocol to NordLynx is now flawless…
Maybe there has been an update? I’ve read the way the kill switch works with IKEv2 could have been causing the problem. We shall see. But for now at least I seem to be getting what I’m paying for!
I have a similar situation and slightly different problem, but instead of no data, I get local data (I.e. as if I have no vpn running) even though IOS reports I am connected and nord says I am as well. I have to disconnect vpn, connect to a different country and then revert back for it to work again.
Something similar has been happening to me a lot. Sometimes switching between wifi and data, my vpn will not connect. I have to disconnect and reconnect again
That would make more sense. But nord support seem unable to acknowledge this. Instead of trying random stuff that doesn’t work I don’t know why they can’t look into it further and implement an update.
Yeah mine seems to be worst on wifi but sometimes when switching bug NordLynx handles this switch faster apparently and handles the kill switch differently. For me at least it seems to have resolved it. But will give it a week before I’m 100% sold on it!
It coincides with some updates of iOS and the nord app. So something has changed. I’d guess it’s be the way IOS handles something backend that causes nord to kill or ‘suspend’ the connection and if doesn’t always kick back into life on unlock. But we shall see eh!
I may have a workaround for you. I downloaded an ovpn configuration from Nord and loaded into the OpenVPN app. I only tested briefly but it worked without issue, and the Nord app is fighting me.
If this works I’ll sign up. I really only want for streaming US content from outside the US.
