VPN Client (Gateway Selection)

Firewalla Team,

Can you please add the ability to define the gateway that a given VPN client (to Firewalla VPN Server or any other 3rd-party VPN server that supports OpenVPN or WireGuard protocol) as it allows users like me to leverage my secondary or tertiary internet connection for those “VPN client” connections.

I’ve been told in the past to simply create a route to the IP address of the “VPN client” server I would connect to, however that does not seem to work at all, and the connection is still stablished through the primary internet connection.

I would like to route my outbound traffic to both of these destinations via my other internet connections.

What do?

I appreciate the time of looking at this post.

Thank you.

Do you mean, you want the VPN client feature to be able to select the WAN to use to connect to your VPN services?

(the usual selection is if you are using primary/stdby, it will use primary; if you are using load balancing, the selection is … based on the load balancing alg used.)

Can u/firewalla, please confirm if this is something that can be looked at for a beta?

Or at-least provide a work around; so that something similar can be accomplished via rules?

Yeah. Pretty much.

I need the ability to tell Firewalla what connection to use for that specific client connection.

I don’t want this traffic to use the default GW rules, I want to define that.

If we can also have the VPN client with rules working well it’s also a good thing….
