Significant drop in speed with surfshark

I measured 900Mbps speed without VPN. In the past, with Surfshark on (connected to a virtual server), the speed used to drop by 50% but still usable. In the last month or so, I see the speeds at around 3Mbps and most of the sites take ages to load, videos don’t load. It was frustrating that I switched to another VPN service provider (connecting to a virtual server), problem solved. My Surfshark renewal is in a month and I am not going to renew my subscription. Has anyone experienced similar issue with Surfshark lately. If so, have you managed to resolve it?

Hi there. Typically experiencing 10-30% speed loss is considered normal due to the VPN encrypting your data. The process of said encryption can result in a slight speed drop. A significant drop in speed like the one you described is certainly not the norm for Surfshark, and we understand how frustrating this can be. Try changing the connection protocol. To do so, go to the Surfshark app - Settings - VPN Settings - Protocol. Wireguard and OpenVPN (UDP) are generally the faster protocols.

In case that does not help we’d love the opportunity to investigate this further and help you resolve the speed issue. Please reach out to us at [email protected] or via live chat on our website. We’re here to help and ensure you have the best experience with Surfshark.

My surfshark speeds at best measure 100mb, but I have zero buffering and my signal is excellent according to analti and android, WiFi 2.4 and hardwire are similar in speed and to be honest with you,I have no complaints, can’t understand why you are on 3 MB, have you tried deleting app and reinstalling Rather than deleting cache
