Setup advice for Proton VPN + Adguard on Windows 11?

I’m having one heck of a time getting Adguard and Proton VPN to play nicely together on Windows 11. When one or the other is disabled my internet surfing experience is great. However, when they’re both connected at the same time the internet either stops completely or becomes really slow. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I should tweak the settings of each for a seamless experience?

Edit: They’re working fine together now. If anyone encounters similar issues in the future, I did a full uninstall of Adguard and Proton VPN via Revo Uninstaller Pro, including uninstalling Proton’s network adapters. Then I installed Proton VPN first, Adguard second, and turned off DNS protection in Adguard. I fixed this error I encountered in Firefox using the 2nd method described there and now things seem to be working smoothly.

Just curious, what is wrong with ProtonVPN’s Netsheild?

My experience has been that it is quite good, and I notice no performance difference.

My settings are listed here (in screenshots):

I hope this helps.

I use Next DNS in Vivaldi. Go to chrome:settings//security and then change the DNS settings given by the Next DNS (DNS over HTTPS). You can fine tune in Next DNS.

Adguard works fine.

Hope this helps

Happy to see your problems sorted out. I came to check if you got the things moving. Cheers!

im using proton vpn too in window 11. But i couldnt find option for vpn in quicksetting on the taskbar. Do u know how ?

Right now I’m in the “testing” stage of using Proton VPN and I’ve already got a few lifetime licenses for Adguard. I’m just playing around right now. If I end up upgrading to Proton’s Pro account then I’ll likely remove Adguard and just use Netsheild, since having both of them working together would likely be redundant.

Thanks a lot for your advice. Much appreciated!
