Router vpn setup for dummies?

Hi… I am basically clueless when it comes to modems/routers other than knowing they give me access to the internets.

I’m living in Estonia at the moment, and I would like to set up a router-based vpn to have access to content from back home (US).

Currently, I have a modem/router combo from the ISP, a technicolor CGA2121. I’ve been searching and reading what I can for the past few days, and I understand it should be possible for me to add a second vpn-capable router to the CGA2121.

I am holding off on buying the second router or subscribing for a vpn service until I am a bit more educated on this topic.

What I need help understanding is what the setup would look like once I purchase a second router. What sort of configuration is needed on the CGA2121? transparent bridging? a new fixed ip?

Could someone please hold my hand and give me a “for dummies” tutorial in layman’s terms?

Bonus: any suggestions for vpn-capable routers would also be much appreciated.

Thanks!

hold up i need to setup my router to use vpn? im using TurisVPN, literally plugnplay

I’m living in Estonia and not from here too, and I also have CGA2121, I came across this while googling issues for this crappy router.

What kind of content do you mean, like streaming? I don’t think this router supports it. For privacy, you can change your DNS server in router admin panel > advanced > home network > lan&dhcp settings, and you can use a VPN on your device. I have subscribed to Windscribe and I’m very satisfied, can stream any content from anywhere at the moment, it provides good speed and many locations.
