Is it okay to do other things on your pc while mudfish is on ie. watching youtube, downloading, etc? I’m fairly certain it only counts traffic from FFXIV but just wanted to make sure. Also, should I be turning mudfish off when I’m not in an instance or just not fighting in general? Like, am I draining a lot of credit if all I’m doing is hanging out at home?
Mudfish by default on applies to data sent in game.
The game itself uses very little data so you could literally just load of $3 and play for like 4 months.
Just don’t download game updates while its active. Download patches before you start Mudfish.
Mudfish only applies to data sent to the games you set up for it. You can keep doing anything else on your normal connection at the same time.
You cannot turn it on/off without exiting the game first (you could turn it off but you’d just 90k, and turning it on after would not be connecting through it) But there’s no need to have it off unless the nodes are having issues. The data usage for XIV is inanely low.
Just be careful to not turn it on when you’re going to need to patch. It will slow your download speed and drain your data to patch through the VPN.
wait so I could watch on twitch and youtube without my data in mudfish getting depleted?
I’ve gone for over a year with $5 worth of data. It’s amazing.
E: @OP, if you turn off mudfish while playing it’s basically the same as pulling the plug on your router, you’ll DC. Either way it’s not worth it because the game uses data at such an incredibly slow rate.
if you turn off mudfish while playing it’s basically the same as pulling the plug on your router, you’ll DC
that is blatantly untrue. I turn MF on and off while playing all the time and never DC from it.
I don’t think your MF is correctly set up.
Any time I’ve turned off Mudfish or changed a node while in game I’ve gotten the boot.
Then you’re not connected via MF nodes. Might want to look into your settings. Also, why would you want it to be off during play at all?
Huh you’re right. When I connect before I start the game I get DCd when I turn it off.
I only need it for fast connect to make sure I get my weaves off; therefore I only run it while I’m raiding
If you can turn it off without dc’ing it’s not doing anything while on.
You can easily check if fastconnect is working, open resource monitor and ffxiv’s ping should show as 0
That is extremely interesting. I’m sure I occasionally had it started before I connected on raid nights, but that probably means that the noticeable improvement in my performance on MCH when I started using it was almost entirely placebo.
That’s wild, I would have sworn in court it was helping. Well fuckin-A thanks for enlightening me.
Encounter instances typically have better ping than housing/SSS testing dummy areas, so if you needed it to double weave in those you might be okay in actual fights.
Well I guess I’ll get the pleasure of trying it for the first time
