hi all,
How good idea is to install Protonvpn from flathub ? I know it is not maintained from Proton ? so should I do that or not ?
Asking because I am using Ublue ( Fedora and Silverblue mix) and on F41 Proton is not available
Thanks

Could never get it to work on arch. I just use the CLI.
yay protonvpn-cli
and use the applet to show the status in my tray
yay protonvpn-applet
Not a perfect solution by any stretch but I honestly gave up on the official app. I just downloaded the WireGuard files directly and just manage and activate them through a script I made.
Flatpak works fine for me.
Now if you care about security I cannot tell, but the flatpak is packaged in the open on GitHub.
Proton should really adopt it since it has feature parity.
I made a post on this subreddit on how i installed the offical rpm on my fedora silverblue
I know it’s not the same thing, but there were fake Ledger wallets on the Snap Store and until they were removed, thousands of cryptocurrencies were stolen.
I always follow official recommendations. Go visit the Proton website and install what they recommend. That’s my general rule of thumb. Steam ? Valve says sudo apt install Steam. Lutris recommended Flatpak.

Weird, for me it’s completely the opposite, CLI doesn’t work.
Did the same when I was using Linux. Works beautifully in OpenBSD now.
the problem is wireguard/openvpn is detected by many websites
Yeah, I know it works. But yes, security aspekt is what I am worries
You gotta set up your opvn keys etc
