ProtonVPN not connecting on school Wi-Fi on any Linux distro

Why? And how do I make it work?

I mean, I haven’t tried EVERY distro, but all that I have tried.

Only tried Linux.

The school Wi-Fi might be blocking VPN connections, however, if you haven’t done so already, try connecting with the OpenVPN - TCP protocol, to see if it works.

What I do for my school is use a hotspot for the first connection then switch to the school if that doesn’t work check out Mullvad

There are many benefits for vpns in school

Our school blocks the first connection to verify you have a protonvpn subscription “first time launching app”

Maybe the new protocol you guys are developing would be able to get past the school’s vpn recognition? Any idea when that’s coming out?

No ETA, as usually, everything will be announced on social medias

dang does tor work by any chance? they probably got a more strict firewall than my uni. But i would try the open vpn config like the other user said

Tor might work if you run your own private obfs4 Bridge relay, for your use only.

In this case “private” means that the bridge is configured with the option PublishServerDescriptor 0.

You can then add the bridge fingerprint to your Tor Browser.

Another option could be to access a Linux Remote Desktop from your laptop situated behind the college/Uni firewall.

However, personally, these days I find it so much easier to use a laptop tethered to a mobile hotspot & to hell with the restricted network.
