Hello everyone,
Effective July 1, 2023, for new subscribers only, we will be increasing the price for Proton VPN Plus monthly subscriptions from $9.99/month to $11.49/month.
The price for existing subscribers, and for 1-year or 2-year subscriptions will not be changing.
We are making this change because, in the past couple of years, the cost of servers and infrastructure has increased significantly along with electricity prices. You can find more details about this in our blog post here: https://protonvpn.com/blog/monthly-plus-price-change/.
If you are considering upgrading to a monthly subscription, you can still do so at any time before July 1 and get the existing $9.99/month price. Proton VPN, like all other Proton services, is entirely funded by paid subscriptions, and your support is what enables all of the work that we do. On the whole, we dislike changing prices, and will always try to ensure that they do not impact existing customers. Thank you again for your support.
Still a viable price, but when is there going to be an update to linux?
I can understand about the price change as I’m one of many who have been affected by it.
Doesn’t provide a functioning Linux app, instead having one full of privacy concerns and bugs, raises prices anyway. You need to make more of an effort on the Pre-release because Linux users are not buying this placation.
Will there be changes to your other services like mail pricing?
PM&PVPN well worth every penny
15% price hike while having many issues/problems.
I am thinking of switching to protonvpn, but with all of the issues I see, I am thinking twice now.
I believe it still is a fair price. Np.
The Linux app is still subpar and most of the IPs in the Bulgaria location don’t get rotated, thus are dirty, yet you are still raising the prices? Applause.
What if I bought it last week? Will the price change take place exactly 1 month from then or will i have to renew earlier?
For me it charged new amount in june itself
Hello Protoners,
I wonder if someone can tell me about their Plus tier.
When I buy Plus tier will it only apply for the specific service I choose like Mail, VPN or Password Manager or will the Plus tier apply for all of the services?
We are working on it, it’s one of the team’s priorities.
In general, this won’t impact our existing subscribers, it’s only impacting new subscribers, and only on those with monthly subscriptions.
while i agree that linux should get more love, the reality of the situation is that linux’s desktop market share is tiny (and it seems it went down in favor of chrome os, according to statcounter - which may not be that accurate, i know) and the priority can never be as great as windows and macos. still, a fully-featured app should be provided for linux.
The price of monthly Unlimited subscription will also change on July 1st: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/14941y0/proton_unlimited_monthly_subscription_price_change/. However, just like with VPN Plus, this only applies to monthly subscriptions, not yearly and bi-annual.
Aslong as you keep your subscription active you will keep the old price.
If you bought it last week, your subscription will renew at the original price. As long as you don’t downgrade or change plans, the price will remain the same. If you change the plan and then come back to the monthly Proton VPN Plus subscription, you will be charged the new price.
Yearly prices will remain the same, as well as the biannual ones.
