On iOS, do we need to keep the app running in the background for the VPN to be active?

I installed the iOS app, connected from a certain IP location, and it installed the VPN profile in my system settings.

Do I need to keep the app running in the background for the VPN to be enabled?

It doesn’t seem like it’s needed because if I quit out of the app and open it again in a bit, the amount of time shown as my having been connected includes the time that I had quit out of the app.

Another question: does the VPN apply to any internet browsing that happens on the device once VPN is enabled? Not just through Safari but all 3rd party apps?

Thanks so much for any extra info on this!

Hey, thanks for reaching out to us.

After connecting PureVPN and closing the app, the VPN will remain active in the background. However, if you want to completely quit the application, you need to disconnect the VPN as well. Simply closing the app without disconnecting the VPN will keep the VPN connection active.

For your other question, yes once the VPN is enabled, it applies to all internet browsing on the device, including not only through Safari but also all third-party apps that rely on an internet connection.

Perfect, thanks so much for answering
