I purchased the NordVPN through the link from Rakuten. Its the basic plan, its my first time purchase and I guarantee that I am a new customer. But I waited two days and the purchase still not shown in Rakuten. So I was planning to Fill out the “Where is my cashback?” Form. It asked me to provide the Order number.
After contact the support in NordVPN, they said I had two purchases where the first one was failed. Since the first one count as one purchase, which means I am no longer qualified for the deal from Rakuten.
This is really a bad experiences.
This is some bad luck and maybe even bad engineering on Nord’s side (to count failed payment as first transaction). I used the NordVPN deal and got my cash back from Rakuten in the past.
I got the 95% cash back on Nord. Just looks like bad luck
Some shady vendors pull crap like this; doesn’t surprise me that Nord apparently did.
I use PIA, they do similar deals, I just signup with a new account, then ask to merge it into my existing account. I lose all the “new” user bonuses, but I never cared about them, I just use the VPN service anyway. Nord may allow you to do a similar thing. YMMV.
I read the exclusions on that offer and it says “Cash Back is earned only on the NordVPN Basic plan portion of a bundled subscription of Plus or Ultimate plans.”
And if I understand it correctly, the basic plan that you bought isn’t eligible for the 100% cashback anyways. In fact, It’s not eligible for any cashback on Rakuten.
Does anyone know what the “standard package” is? Is the Basic Plan CA$80.73 for 27 months eligible?
