My Nord subscription was only due to end of the 18/03/2023. I woke up this morning to the notification that my Nord subscription had been renewed for 1 year, despite being 13 days away from ending and the fact that auto-renew was turned off on my account settings.
For the last month or so I’ve been getting notifications from Nord to update my card info, which I haven’t done because I did not want to auto-renew. Now I wake up to £100.50 debited from my bank account by Nord.
My plan was to start a new account as the 2-year deals for a new subscription are far better than any renewal deals. I guess Nord decided to make that decision for me.
This has me well vexed. I’ll be contacting Nord immediately for a refund and I guess they’ll have to cancel my subscription too (goodbye 13 days I’ve paid for). Has anyone on this sub dealt with anything similar?
I cancelled my service, they confirmed it was cancelled bust charged me another year the following day. Sent in a dispute form to my credit card company as well as a complaint to my states attorney general office. Still waiting for NordVpn to respond but at least the bank took off the charge in the interim
My sub expires this month and I have auto-renewal disabled. Also have confirmation-email of that. If Nord still auto-renews and thus STEALS my money for that, I wonder if that is illegal by law in the EU-country where I am from. I might press charges of theft at the police then.
Not just with Nord, but I read many complaints about internet services and subscriptions in general ignoring cancellations thus stealing money. Something should really be done about that. Among other things not being able to cancel a subscription payment yourself if using credit card should be changed by credit card providers.
That sounds promising. I hope the Nord gods shine the same light on me. Thank you.
What did you expect from your state’s attorney general for a company that is based out of Panama? Isn’t one of the “features” that they are outside of normal LE jurisdiction and thus outside the surveillance treaties?
Not trying to troll or anything. Genuinely curious what your thought was in contacting the AG office.
This happened to me as well. I talked to chat and complained and they gave me an extra 13 months free if I just kept the sub lol
If they charge a declining card a few times they’ll go to your backup card or info which is what happened to me. When they sent me an email saying to update payment I just didn’t. Then when I had money a month later it charged.
Just because they’re based in Panama doesn’t mean they can disregard American law. If you do business here you’re subject to our laws
Just found this post as I was charged early today. Thanks for the heads up, I opened a chat with them and when I mentioned a refund they gave me an additional 18 months free!
So 30 months for the price of 12, even though I feel the 12 is overpriced I’m happy with the additional months
