Are there any benefits in enabling or disabling Apple Private Relay when using Mullvad VPN? Will it interfere or complement each other?
Disable private relay for iPhone and browser. Then use Mullvad. Private relay is garbage and isn’t really a vpn or privacy pool. It simply hides your ip yet is still watching everything you’re doing. Apple is making it increasingly difficult for VPN services because the private relay is what apple tried to make sound like there very own vpn for privacy. So much so that now vpn providers can’t really fully tunnel all traffic through a separate vpn provider because apple basically hard codes there own tunnel into iOS where even when a vpn is on apples own servers are not affected by the service what so ever and it’s like hey you can’t block or tunnel our servers for functionality reasons and core services. But everything else you can. Essentially putting a back door for themselves into the device. Very very bad stuff and that’s why most vpn apps for using a vpn tunnel are very messed up and in some cases leak and or plain break. Because of this reason. I vpn on iOS isn’t truly a vpn because of app making vpn providers cave to there core ability to split tunnel there own servers which in my eyes is a vulnerability.
AR IS a VPN but only for Safari and internal services. Also proxies dns requests using ODoH. Read the specifications if you have doubts.
You can’t use both at the same time, once MV is enabled, AR will disable and vice versa. MV is system wide and consequently will consumer more power since more traffic is being encrypted. MV also doesn’t provide ODoH, but since the service doesn’t identify users, it’s basically ““the same”” result.
It automatically disables AFAIK
It doesn’t benefit you from having both on and it will slow your internet to a crawl.

According to apple traffic routed through VPNs is unaffected, is this simply a lie?
I don’t know why you were downvoted but this is a correct answer.
Why you would even need that?
