Mozilla VPN getting flagged as a trojan by Malwarebytes

For the last few days, my malwarebytes premium account has flagged the VPN as having a trojan. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and the notification still comes back. Has anyone seen anything like this? How concerned should I be.

Malwarebytes is way too aggressive to block apps sometimes.
One time clevo control center got the same treatment, but with the extra spice that it straight up quarantined it.
And let’s just say that the machine didn’t like it one bit.
Oh what a joy it was to try to get into obsidian-pc website with i7-8700k clocked at 300mhz and single core.
But soon as I got that app working again, the system went back to the normal 3.7ghz (4.7ghz turbo) clocks as it should.

That got me this close of uninstalling malwarebytes despite the fact that I had just bought year worth of license for it.

After reporting that false positive to them, it was removed from the lists and i haven’t experienced anything like that ever since.

Additionally you could report this false positive in the r/malwarebytes subreddit too. Maybe they could remove this false flag from the app as they did with the clevo control center for me.

Make sure you downloaded the right file, from the official source, ie the official Mozilla website. If it’s the right source, then it ought to be a false positive. Ignore/circumvent it on malwarebytes. These sorta things happen

Please report this to Mozilla VPN directly.

Hmmm doesn’t malwarebytes have a vpn service too? Just say’in

Bet theirs doesn’t get blocked… malwarebytes playing dirty?

Yeah and the weird thing is the VPN still function even after whatever element gets blocked by the antivirus. I’ll just wait to see what mozilla support has to say

They said they had been alerted a week prior and were looking into it. They also speculated that it may have been flagged that way because someone else using the VPN was engaged in malicious activity using it
