MacOS Sequoia and VPN

Some apps do not work on MacOS Sequoia while connected to VPN. Does anyone experience the same? I use ExpressVPN and I noticed that iPhone Mirroring, iMessage and Facetime does not work if I am connected to the VPN. Those were the only apps I am having problems with yet while connected to the VPN. Though iMessage and Facetime works well while connected to VPN on iPhone.

Issues with VPN and Sequoia are generally known. Only Apple knows when they will be fixed.

i’ve had a number of apps do that with private internet access, nord and surfshark, since sequoia db1. a remove and reinstall has not fixed intermittent nonsense behavior.

iPhone Mirroring seems to be working fine for me on PIA, not sure about iMessage and FaceTime though. What happens when you try to use iPhone Mirroring?

A coworker just started having an issue with OpenVPN after updating to 15.0.1. This seems to be related to the MAC address filtering we have enabled on our corporate VPN which records the MAC address the first time you successfully log in then limits the user to that MAC address. Sequoia introduced rotating MAC addresses and you can set the MAC address to fixed or rotating within the network connection configuration. Our IT folks said that, even though the address for Wifi was set to “Fixed”, they were seeing the Mac’s hardware address being reported rather than the Wifi MAC address. I’m wondering if the issues you’re seeing could be around this rotating/fixed MAC address functionality as well.

It just doesn’t connect if I’m connected to ExpressVPN

I am having the same issues, in our company as well, so far we haven’t found a fix to this, I am the IT head by the way, the only way we have been able to fix it is creating a new profile.

I finally upgraded to Sequoia after 15.1 came out and haven’t had any problems with VPN myself, so maybe that update has some fixes.
