Looking for Wi-Fi Router Repeater with VPN, which I can use to connect to Public Wi-Fi

Hi,
I will need to travel for work soon, but I will be staying at hotels which probably have public Wifi. I am looking for some sort of router device with Build in VPN feature (OpenVPN) so that I can connect it wirelessly to Public Wifi, and repeat the signal but through the VPN channel.

So far I found GL.iNet Extender with VPN

Are there any other options other than GL.iNet?

That is an excellent choice. I’ve read about these guys before. It’s supposed to top notch and very powerful.

I have a glinet travel router. Super cheap. It was like $20. It works perfect to connect to hotel wifi, and VPN all my devices.

Totally worth the money for ability and portability for the price

Your phone may have a WiFi hotspot feature, that may work through VPN. For a lot of devices with a wifi chip this is possible, it’s just a firmware issue.

Thst is the router I use on public networks. Works great. I use it with Mullvan wireguard.

I use the older Slate and it works very well. Before the Slate I was using a Raspberry PI and an Access Point which worked fine bit the Slate is compact and quicker to set up.

That amz*%n link OP provided has that router at $100. That’s way overpriced. I remember paying $60 for that a few years ago. It has become a constant travel companion.

I have been very happy with my GL.iNet for getting onto hotel WiFi.

Why? I’m genuinely curious. Seems if you can see their router from your room that adding an extender between your device and the real network would only be worse (slower, more latency, etc).

Is this to make VPN setup easy on devices that don’t natively support it?
