Killswitch and vpn only for the torrent client? How?

Was wondering if/how I can setup just my torrent clients traffic to go through my vpn, with connection being cut when the vpn cuts out?

Hi, thanks for the post!

Your best bet would probably be to find a torrent client that allows you to specify which network adapter it uses. Set it to use a network adapter that is specific to VyprVPN. That way, if/when that network adapter loses its VPN connection, the torrent client will simply lose its connections, since it’s configured to only use the VPN’s network adapter.

Below I’ve listed out our Connection Per App and Kill Switch availability on the most popular platforms (Android, Mac, iOS, and Windows):

_____

Our Android application has a Kill switch and Connection Per App capabilities, so if you were torrenting on Android, this would be easy to implement. We do realize that torrenting on Android is uncommon, though.

Connection Per App capability on our Mac application is something we’re working to improve in an upcoming update to VyprVPN for Mac. VyprVPN for Mac has a Kill switch, so implementing this on Mac would be relatively easy once our Connection Per App function is improved on the platform.

Our iOS application doesn’t have Connection Per App capability, but it does have a Kill switch.

Windows has a Kill Switch, but does not have Connection Per App capability. It’s something that we want to add in the future, but we don’t have a way to implement it currently, and don’t have any exact plans or dates for when we might expect that to be added.

TL;DR - if you only want to use the VyprVPN app to implement this, Mac and Android will be your best bet. Otherwise, using a torrent client that allows you to specify the network adapter, and setting that to a VyprVPN network adapter, would work on other platforms.
