When I briefly ran a DNS LEAK TEST, I found that the Google LLC DNS server and the US DNS server located in Kent were always connected.
The Philippine server in the photo is even in Secure Core mode. Even in normal mode, Google servers and US servers often appear.
Is this the same for you too?
It looks like your device has been configured to use Google DNS servers. In this case, we cannot prevent it, and we advise against that: https://protonvpn.com/support/dns-leaks-privacy/ Proton VPN doesn’t use Google’s DNS servers.
seeing “google” and “Choopa” in that list tells me that you have leaks; if you didnt, all the entries would be “M247”
So you where connected to servers where and tested dns leak?
Where your IP masked with a Proton? Did you run Wireshark when testing the dns leak so see if your traffic was encrypted?
Ðere is a leak, it occurs hwen ðe connexion is interrupted and may be manually triggered by visiting ipleak.net et al and disabling ðe VPN, returning to ðe site, ðen enabling the VPN again and returning to ðe site; ðe only way to overcome it is to set a custom DNS provider at ðe level of ðe operating system
If you have a Xbox try this I double my speed and stopped my lagging. a lot people run google or cloudfair wanna run on to get faster speed make sure you do enable your DSCP under advanced network…
8.8.8.8-8.8.4.4 is google and cloudfair is 1.1.1.1-1.0.0.1 DSN if your on Xbox you wanna to turn on your DSCP to help with latency if your lagging to help give you priority when the network is congested. If you running Ethernet cable get a cat6 cat6a you won’t need to do this if you have Ethernet cable hooked up but if your running WiFi enable the WMM these are both under advance setting it’ll make your system restart and you shouldn’t have any lag. also make sure your port is 3074 if not. run auto to get a better port cause you could have a computer cell phones iPad all running off your router and the port it’s going give you the best port map. If you notice any lagging your modem or router may not support it so turn it off and restart the system do a hard reset turn power off unplug it then 30 sec then plug it back in… I run cloudfair I pay for 200mps but I get 390’s + upload now on a cat6a Ethernet cable port 3074 try this if you experiencing any lagging issue just a tip if you happen to have a xbox
hello. Due to the time difference, now I’m seeing your answer. First of all, the platform I’m using is Android and with Brave Browser.
Additionally, since no special extension is used and a kill switch is also used, there seems to be no possibility of disconnection and reconnection in the middle.
I reported this problem to Proton for an integrity check, and understand that this is not the first time Proton VPN’s DNS has been leaked.
Thank you for your kind reply.
I am using Android 14 OS. PROTON VPN is the Android version.
What DNS settings do you have in your Android phone settings? What is the DNS configuration in Brave on your phone?
Have you checked ProtonVPN to see if some settings are set up wrong?

Yes we can confirm that we don’t t rent servers from Google or use their DNS servers.
I’m using a Galaxy, and DNS settings on Galaxy can be managed in the menu labeled “Private DNS”. I checked and it was selected as “Automatic”.
The problem is this. If I use the ISP Internet without using a VPN, Google DNS and US DNS servers do not appear when I test for DNS leakage. Only my ISP DNS is detected.
Judging from this, I can prove that there is no problem with my Android DNS settings.
However, only when using PROTON VPN, Japan, the United States, and Google DNS are being detected.
hello. The answer was late. Yes, I referred to the link you provided, and even though I set it to “Off” in Android settings, Google and US DNS are showing.
However, the leak is only detected on the DNS test page dnsleaktest org in the photo, and no leaks are displayed on the browserleaks and dnsleaktest test pages.
Proton doesn’t rent servers from google, Proton doesn’t use google dns servers.
If you you see google dns in dns checks, then something at your system is configured to use these.
Can you please repeat the test on https://dnsleaktest.com ? What servers were you using?
I used the Indian server and IN#16 New Delhi server. I tested the link you provided and it only shows Indian DNS.
