Is it possible to change the IPv4 address on an iPhone so that is physically shows you are in another location?

Without the use of a VPN

No. You are at the mercy of the telco company to provide your IP. Without VPN, you take the IP they give you.

If you just want to send a transmission with a fake IP, it’s not impossible. But you won’t be getting any response back. It’s similar to you can send a letter with a fake sender address but the response to that letter won’t reach you.

No, get a vpn; problem solved.

To Elaborate, IPv4 is assigned by the internet providers DHCP server. The Cell provider if you are connecting via 4Ghz or 5GHz cellular connection, or if you connect to your home Wifi Routers network. the DHCP server on your router would assign the IPv4 address. The only way to mask it is with a VPN.

One way is to get an esim from the desired location that you want to be seen from. I am unfortunately in the reverse situation where the esim company is in hong kong… so nothing is working xD. i will choose my next esim more wisely…

It is not possible to change your iPhone’s IPv4 address without using a VPN. The IPv4 address is assigned to your device by your internet service provider, and it identifies your device on the internet. If you want to appear to be in a different location, you would need to use a VPN to change your IP address and make it appear as if your device is located in a different place. Keep in mind that using a VPN can slow down your internet connection and may not always be effective in making it appear as if you are in a different location.

No, only Android devices have such capabilities (Spoof GPS, use reliable free vpns etc). For iPhone im afraid you are going to need a VPN and some other workarounds.

IP address do not work that way. You can set your phones IPv4 to whatever you want, but that isn’t what gets recorded or logged on the website. What gets logged is your home IP address. Kind of like how a home shares a single mailbox.

Hey did you figure out how to do it

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Is it possible to mask that IP number to something else after even though the ISP provided that number to me?

So when I make a request to a website, I override that address.

Can you elaborate on proxy & RDP.

Ok - understood.

Would it be possible to change that at a core level , ie that when I opened another application like Maps, it would also think I’m at that location ?

Not possible without a jailbreak however there is no jailbreak on IOS16.

A proxy server is similar to a VPN. RDP probably refers to Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Connection. It involves connecting to a remote computer and browsing the internet on that.

The use of mobile networks for data transmission can potentially expose personal information through metadata. Metadata refers to the data that is associated with a communication, but not the actual content of the communication itself. This information can include the location, time, and duration of the communication, as well as the device and network used.

In today’s digital landscape, it is crucial to protect personal information from potential breaches and unauthorized access. By disconnecting from the mobile network and connecting to a controlled WiFi network, individuals can have greater control over the metadata associated with their data transmission. This can provide an added layer of protection and ensure the confidentiality of personal information.

Additionally, using a public WiFi network, such as at a McDonald’s, can provide an added level of anonymity and reduce the potential for tracking. This can provide peace of mind and allow individuals to communicate and access information without fear of being monitored or tracked.

Overall, disconnecting from the mobile network and connecting to a controlled WiFi network with favorable metadata is a proactive and effective measure to protect personal information and ensure the confidentiality of data transmission.

Whatever application or website you are using needs to be able to send data back to your phone, and it does that using your IP Address.

And maybe we should clarify that it’s not your IP address, it is the IP address that your ISP or Phone Company owns and has assigned to you. The app or website sends the traffic to your ISP and then the ISP send the data on to you based on the IP address.

A VPN works because your traffic goes through their servers and then out if their network using one of their IP addresses. The app or website communicates back to the VPN company IP and the VPN company sends the traffic to your device. So it’s a very similar process to your regular ISP but just uses a different route to your device, and that different route allows your IP address to be listed in different locations.

So, if you could somehow change your IP at a “core level” like you want to do, all you would do is break your internet connection. Your newly assigned IP address would not match your ISP and so when a website tries to communicate back to your new IP, the traffic will not reach you.

If you really want to hide your location, a VPN is the solution, but you don’t seem to want to consider that.

If i do it in an android what?

Thanks for that however what I’m aiming to do is really show a different IP address on my phone than what it appears. At the core level.

So that if I opened maps, it would also think I’m at that location.

A hard level IP (or location change)
