I’m not sure if I even put this in the right subreddit but, is the program Hamachi which allows gamers to basically automatically portfoward games such as Minecraft, Terraria, ect. Is it safe to use this program? This may seem stupid but one of my friends won’t download it as he thinks its dangerous. Thanks a lot guys
Only use Himachi with your friends I.e. people you really trust. As long as your friend does not join himachi groups with random people on the internet and just joins the one I suspect you have created he will be fine
But seriously though, make sure you ABSOLUTELY trust the people in the group and know them personally as someone with malintent could just say " hey want to play some Minecraft? Can you make a himachi group, for some reason I can’t host." And then they could steal all your information by hacking into your computer. Did I make it clear only use himachi with people you know IRL and trust because I got a lot of malware on my laptop one time from doing this with strangers. I ended up factory resetting it and wiping the hardrive just to be safe (only old school documents, porn, and games were on it so I just figured it wasn’t worth trying to get any of it for fear of infecting a USB drive and reinfecting the computer after the reset.). Oh yea, also only do Himachi with people you trust.

In my case I didn’t find it safe, it screwed up my network drivers and I had many trouble with Internet after that, I had to reformating my OS to fix it.
I don’t know, it might be safe for some kinds of PC, not for mine actually.
Try Evolve or Gameranger, these are great alternative that, personnaly, didn’t give any problems until now, and it’s been some years I’m using them.

It’s as safe as the person using it. Hamachi creates LAN connections over internet, that’s it. If you wouldn’t trust the person to bring their computer into your home, don’t trust them over Hamachi either. Password everything, don’t put your server info on a webpage for any idiot to crawl and snoop it, and turn it off when you’re not using it. That’s pretty much it.
Yes, it’s safe. Been using it for a number of years, only real issue is if you’re messing around with networks, for some strange reason programs tend to detect the Hamachi IP even when Hamachi isn’t running.
Hamachi itself isn’t a virus or malware. It’s annoying to get rid of for some people, as it leaves behind a lot of junk, and it can in some rare cases degrade performance, but it’s no virus.
It’s dangerous because it’s almost like a two+ way vpn. You’re allowing someone to connect directly to your computer. This can allow them to access your files if you haven’t setup security stuff properly. No. Hamachi is not safe.
