I clean installed Win10 last night, and I had to uninstall the VPN 3 times, and now it is on my Program list again. It looks like a virus to me. Any idea?
Update:
I was talking to the rep, and got this ridiculous response:
It is not a virus, it is part of the main Bitdefender application and one of the modules we have. If you uninstall it, it will be installed back with the next update since updates are keeping your entire application up to date. The VPN doesn’t do anything unless you connect it manually or set it to connect manually.
But it is doing exactly what a virus would do. You try to remove it, it comes back. I paid for the service I need, and I can choose to remove an unwanted components from it. And you pretended to allowe it and said “permanently removed” as I uninstalled your VPN. A moment later it comes back. Is your permanent different from ours?
It’s not about whether it does anything. It an unwanted software, and I should be able to remove it. How is this a good security software, when it is an adware itself?
same problem,they are forcing people
i want a antivirus that people install and forget about it,it should run silently in background ,no notification ,no disturbance
I assume the notifications bother you. You can fisable those through the vpn settings, not the protection software.
1.Uninstall bitdefender
2.remove the device from central
3. Do you have any other device using Bitdefenderon the same acount?
4. If so, then do the same for it
5. Install bd on each and uninstall the vpn one last time.
6. Did both devices appear in central?
7. If yes, then you should be done with the vpn.
8. If not, then check if the mac addeess in central is accurate on the device
updated with BitDefender’s response.
Welp, if it comes back, then consider what I mentioned above. I had a situation a while ago on two of my computers would replace eachother in central due to some virtual machines I had running on each one of them. They fixed that recently and I had to remove the devices in central and reinstall bitdefender+uninstall the von once again
.
Is that VPN uninstaller a webpage link you can share? I’d like to have it too. I’m returning to my previous VPN service and won’t use BD VPN, so I don’t want it loading. I’ve uninsrtalled it in the normal fashion, but I’m wondering if it will reappear on its own as people have noted?
Thanks.
I disabled the VPN from starting in task manager. On the “STATUS” tab, right click on the “Bitdefender VPN App”, click “Disable”. This should prevent it from starting up in the first place.
I just contacted support and they gave me a uninstall tool. I followed and reinstalled BD from BDCentral.
Now it appears the problem is gone, but I believe once I clicked on the VPN logo inside BD it will come back. I clicked on it once before the attempt to repair and that probably was what made it keep coming back
You probably got into one of the idiots from the first level :)) .
Do as I said before: remove the device in central.bitdefender.com and do a switch account on the device.
It doesn’t get reinstalled on any of my computers.
Unfortunately it didn’t work, it was given in the chat message and it wasn’t saved, my apology.
I don’t think there is a dedicated vpn uninstaller. It’s just Uninstall Bitdefender
