How do I add Windscribe to my Chromebook?

Hi y’all,

I’ve been using Windscribe for about two years now. I’ve been lurking on the subreddit.

On my old Chromebook, I used the web extension and it glitched a ton due to my old Chromebook being about five years old and at its end of life. Now, I have a newer Chromebook and I want to add the VPN manually without the need for the extension and Android app.

How do I go about that?

Chromebooks allow you to setup an OpenVPN connection in the settings. You’d have to grab your OpenVPN config from here: https://windscribe.com/getconfig/openvpn

You can actually use the Linux app, because all Chromebooks can use Linux apps, you only need to enable one checkmark

The best options would be to use the Android app and or browser extension.

Depending if your Chromebook supports APK’s you could download the windscribe Android client. I haven’t used a Chromebook in a while but if not you will have to set it up manually (openvpn)

except he actually said he doesn’t want to use the android app.

bout to sit down and cry over this one

It’s not that bad. You can use another client.

If you have openvpn access, which isn’t included in the windscribe free account you just need to setup the VPN manually using the Chromebook settings.

If you also want to also protect your Android side, you need to use some sort of app. (not the extension, but the app from Android play store).

I know it is weird, but the Chromebook kind of acts like two devices in one.

This might be wrong since I hadn’t really looked at this in a couple years. If out of date anyone feel free to correct me.
