How could you tell if a VPN connection is being used on your home network, and how could you view that traffic?

Forewarning, I do work in IT, but I am not a networking expert by any stretch of the imagination.
So, I guess I have 2 main questions.

One, is there a way to determine if someone is using a VPN on my home network?

I understand there may be some indication in the router logs that one is being used, but I don’t know the IP of the VPN or what irregularities I should look for in the logs.

Two, if there is a VPN in use, how can I monitor that traffic?

My first thought was Wireshark, but that had several steps involved and I’m not positive it will actually collect the network traffic I’m looking for. I wanted to get some advice before going any further.

What I do know:

The device that would potentially be using a VPN: IPhone 14

The router being used: RT-AC3200

Any help is greatly appreciated!

homie be honest are you trying to snoop into the gf’s internet traffic lol

lol, that’s the whole point of a vpn… hiding web traffic securely

Snitches get stitches

Depends how locked down it is. What are you trying to figure out and maybe there is a better way we can help you.

A regular iphone and android , when Wifi-calling is enabled will use a ipsec tunnel .

Wifi-calling or VOWIFI , give you the ability to receive text/call via your internet connection .

ipsec tunnel is a VPN

100% trying to spy on somebody…
