Got G10S Pro from China, anyway to get the app working outside of China?
why did you bought the G10S? Is it much better than the S7 maxV?
I have found a working solution today
You need a root android phone, recent model would be better, but older phone works fine with some caveats
Step zero: make sure your phone has root
Step two: get a China VPN, I used flyVPN from google play store and bought one month subscription, it’s not free
Step three: install vpn hotspot from github
Step four: turn on the vpn, make sure it’s global mode, not app mode
Step five: share your vpn via hotspot in the vpn hotspot app
Step six: profit, connect your bot to the hotspot you just created, and you will notice the region lock is gone, and you can control it with any phone, it doesn’t have to be on China VPN, and the timezone is also set to your local timezone as well. Remote monitoring and videos are all working but a bit slow since it’s tunnel to China now
Already tested all other methods online and none of them work, this is the easy workaround

Where did you buy the robot from?
Would probably need to use a VPN to use the App if it is regionlocked.

Similarly, you may need to create a VPN with WiFi for the bot, if it needs to be in China to work.
Some routers allow this, or you could make one with a Raspberry Pi or such. You could even use a computer to make one, but it’d use your PC/Mac’s WiFi card to make the access point, so you’d need to have an Ethernet connection.

Tha hacked app might not work if a newer firmware was used as the base firmware.
What site did you buy this from? I’m interested in doing the method you’ve done to bypass the region lock. Shame it can’t be tinkered in the firmware for now…
Did you find a solution to changing the spoken language the bot speaks when it speaks. I have the g10s and I’ve tried everything and it will not work. I’m going to try your workaround so fingers crossed it works
My G10S is still working. I am running it with IPhone using standard Mi Home App on (installed from the local Apple Store), with HMA VPN configured/installed on ASUS Router, and without changing region/time zone. The firmware of my G10S is 4.1.5_0638. The latest firmware is 4.1.5_0952 but I have not updated.
I understand only G10S needs to be connected to the VPN during pairing. Right now, both my IPhone and G10S are not connected to the VPN and I can still operate G10S. I noticed that when I switched App between standard Mi Home App and Roborock App (and vice versa), I needed to re-pair the G10S (G10S to be connected to VPN).
- Have you tried to re-pair the robot?
- Which firmware is installed on your robot? (in case you have taken note of before it was blocked)?
- Maybe you can test with different VPN services (typically you won’t be charged during the 7-day trial period).
- If you had updated the firmware, maybe you can try to reset your robot to factory settings in order to revert to the factory pre-installed version.
The vpn method doesn’t work now.
Another method which still works?
Wondering if using an overseas version of S7, but with Chinese version of base station could work together.
Would it work if i switch g10s mainboard with s7max mainboard
