I opened a TAC case with PAN because I noticed on a new firewall build that I was not downloading the GlobalProtect data file. When checking an older firewall of mine, it last updated on 09/23/2023 and according to the logs, last checked for ANY new file the day after on 09/24/2023.
According to the TAC engineer, these GP updates are included in the application updates now, so you no longer need to schedule a download of the GlobalProtect data file. It won’t work anyway.
He said it was announced in an internal memo, which makes no sense to me. Why wouldn’t this be published? In any case, to anyone who reads this, you can now kill that GP data file schedule in your firewalls.
