So I’m in china… Apparently I need a VPN to play BF (or at least download files, which is not comforting as right now BF is making us download stuff daily.) I’ve tried several VPNs that didn’t work, anyone have recommendations? I don’t want to miss more of the Summer event than I already have.
My device is an iPad mini, so the VPNs have to work on iOS.
EDIT: I’m in, using betternet’s VPN right now and it seems to work.
I am in China right now and you DO NOT need a VPN to download game files for BF. You need a VPN to log into the facebok account but thats it. It is probably the internet connection messing you up (hotel internet is bad)
Psiphone. On google and amazon. Do not know if can go on IOS.

I believe you need to have a programmable router to use vpn or something. When I was in China last summer, I tried a lot of apps to bypass the blockage, but failed anyway. A guy in the university I worked for set up my laptop as an AP, which means connecting the laptop to the internet with a cord, and running VPN on the laptop, enabling the wireless broadcast (use laptop as a router, and allow my ipad to connect to the laptop via wifi), then bridging the cabled internet with wireless connection, to allow the ipad to use the shared cabled internet. My friend did all these only to help me to connect to the f*****g gmail.
“Unlimited Free VPN by betternet” worked out pretty well for me when it would connect. It was pretty bad connecting on edge when I was outside but for the most part when I had good connection it was very convenient to connect to.
I’m in China right now as well and in order to do anything on my phone Facebook, snapchat, brave frontier, etc I downloaded surfeasy Vpn in the App Store and everything works fine but he internet here is very slow
A quick check from various servers in China, none of the servers that BF uses are blocked (Edgesuite, AWS (US))… so…
EDIT: Actually, scratch that. HTTPS connections to edgesuite are blocked, which is consistent with you not being able to download files.
Files download has been sitting at 0% and then it just quits, telling me there was a connection error. I logged in to facebook before coming here so I should be fine on that. Pretty sure Psiphon isn’t available on iOS (I remember checking before getting here) but I’ll take a look at Hotspot Shield.
why not use webfreer? no need for all the trouble
This seems to have worked, I’m in the game now (although I’m not entirely sure if it’s because of the VPN or just the fact that my internet got good enough to allow me to download the files.) Thanks.
try using your mobile data to see if there is any way to get pass it.
If that doesn’t work (IMO) it seems that there is a problem with the client. Hope you can get through.
I use privateinternetaccess.com , but I’m not in china so I dunno. they have a server in china though so I assume it might work? but it isn’t free, either …

That works for the laptop, like the VPN does; but I also need my phone, therefore I need to bridge.
how about fqrouter2? very reliable and its for phones.
I’ve no idea, and I cannot test it now, since I’m back in the LAND OF FREE now.
